From February 1, only the adhesive vignette 2022 in Marille or the digital vignette 2022 are valid. For all those who still have to click or pick, it is therefore high time to get the new vignette.
“62 percent of all annual vignettes are already digital. That alone shows that customers appreciate the benefits and know that in Corona times digital also means secure, because it can be ordered and paid for contactlessly. The adhesive toll sticker is still available at 6,000 sales outlets. In this way, we ensure that everyone can get their vignette in time for Tuesday,” confirms ASFINAG Managing Director Claudia Eder.
Those who still need a digital vignette at short notice can obtain them from ASFINAG sales partners such as ÖAMTC, ARBÖ, ADAC as well as from many tobacconists and gasoline stations. In addition, the Digital Vignette, which is valid immediately, is also available at the six ASFINAG toll booths and at more than 60 vending machines throughout Austria. However, those who buy online must still observe the consumer protection period. A vignette purchased at the ASFINAG toll store is not valid until the 18th day after purchase.
Up to 120 euros fine for vignette offenders
If it is determined during a toll sticker check that no valid toll sticker is affixed to the windshield or that no valid digital toll sticker is present, a replacement toll must be paid immediately on site.
For multi-lane vehicles such as passenger cars, the replacement toll is 120 euros, for single-lane vehicles 65 euros. This also applies if a vehicle driver without a valid vignette is detected by an automatic vignette check.
Vehicle drivers get very creative when it comes to explaining why they do not have a valid vignette affixed to their windshield at the time of the toll check. Excuses or ignorance, however, do not protect against a replacement toll.
