A woman lost almost 500,000 euros. She fell for scammers who contacted her by phone.
+46114420817 – if you see this number on your display, don’t pick it up! A woman from the district of Kirchdorf did it and is now almost half a million euros loose. The 59-year-old fell for Internet scammers. Daily austrian news “Heute” reports.
According to a police report, a previously unknown perpetrator – alias Alicya Russo – repeatedly contacted the 59-year-old woman from the district of Kirchdorf by telephone under the number +46114420817 in the period from September 15, 2021 to January 04, 2022.Through a skillful conversation and supposedly convincing arguments, “Russo” misled the woman in the belief of a profitable investment in cryptocurrency to transfer varying amounts of money to the bank accounts EE64 7777 00001709 2115 and LT35 3780 0000 1656 5662.
During the 14th transfer transactions made via her smartphone, the unknown perpetrator, had inserted the bank account number by means of remote maintenance software “AnyDesk”. Subsequently, the transfer had been carried out by the 59-year-old.
The unknown perpetrator had immediately transferred the funds to a crypto account, to which the injured party had had no access (she had only received “transfer confirmations” from the e-mail address hello@crypto.com).
When the 59-year-old requested payment of the money, she was told that she would have to transfer funds again. The injured party received a letter from the company “marketltd” from the e-mail address alicya.russo@marktltd.
In this letter it was requested, that the woman must transmit 10.000,00 for the receipt of the investment sum. Only then did the woman file a complaint. Thus a total damage of nearly 500,000 euro resulted, so the police.
