The number of new Corona infections in Austria on Thursday was 31,566, significantly lower than on Wednesday.
After nearly 40,000 new infections on Wednesday, the Interior and Health Ministries reported 31,566 new cases within the past 24 hours on Thursday. In addition, there were 36 more deaths. The seven-day incidence was now 2,201.2 cases per 100,000 population. As of Thursday, there were 282,497 confirmed active cases in Austria. There was a slight decrease in hospitals.
Almost 2,600 Corona patients in hospitals
There had to be cared for on Thursday 2,599 Covid-19 patients, by 23 less than on Wednesday. Within the past week, however, 186 patients had been newly admitted. On Thursday, one hundred eighty-nine critically ill patients were in intensive care units, down by one from the previous day.
Since Wednesday, 36 deaths have been recorded, with 224 people dying from Covid-19 infection in the past week alone. Overall, the covid-19 pandemic has claimed 14,924 lives in Austria since it broke out two years ago. Per 100,000 population, 167.1 people have died from or with Covid-19.
Thirty-one thousand five hundred sixty-six new Corona infections on Thursday.
The 31,566 more infected people on Thursday brought the seven-day average to now back up to 28,090. The last time there were more cases on a Thursday was three weeks ago – on February 10. At that time, 35,250 new infections had been reported. On Thursday, a week ago, 28,591 new cases were registered.
Just yesterday, Wednesday, 39,493 new infections had been reported, the second-highest 24-hour figure in Interior Ministry figures since the pandemic began. More had been it only with 43,053 – of it however with thousands Nachmeldungen – on January 27, so seen it was on the previous day at all the record value.
