Kherson first major Ukrainian city captured by Russia

Ukrainian authorities have confirmed the capture of the port city of Kherson in southern Ukraine by the Russian army. Regional administration head Gennady Lakhuta wrote on the Telegram messaging service that night that Russian occupiers were in all parts of the city and “very dangerous.” Kherson is the first significant city Russia has captured since invading Ukraine a week ago. The Russian army had reported the capture of Kherson early Wednesday morning. However, this was initially denied by the Ukrainian side.
