Hospitals also face a massive increase in Corona patients within just a week.
In its new Corona forecast, the State Crisis and Disaster Management Agency predict new record levels of the virus within a week.

A 7-day incidence of 3,300 to 5,400 cases per 100,000 population (with a mean of 4,100) is cited by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ State Crisis and Disaster Management in its new Corona forecast report. However, the predicted Corona case numbers vary widely, from around 42,400 to just over 69,400 new infections per day. Possible, even probable, are new Corona record numbers due to the opening.

Due to the opening steps of 5 March”.
For the current forecast, “a further increase in the rise in cases observed last week is expected due to the 5 March opening steps”. The lowest incidence is expected in Carinthia (2,400 to 4,000), the highest in Styria (3,900 to 6,900). The report also says that the number of reproductions increases in both omicron variants, i.e., BA.1 and BA.2. This means that both variants are currently gaining momentum in Austria.

The pavement forecast for the hospitals is also gloomy: For 30 March, 295 Corona intensive care patients and 3,904 Corona normal patients are expected. By comparison, on Monday 21 March, Austria stops at 217 Corona critically ill patients in intensive care units and 2,860 in normal wards. “The capacity limits indicated are to be interpreted against the background of increasing staff absences due to illness and or isolation,” it says.

More and more staff are also expected to be absent
Means: More and more staff will also be lacking, becoming a problem in hospitals. “Furthermore, the pavement prognosis does not distinguish between persons whose hospitalization is causally due to COVID-19 and persons who were originally hospitalized due to another diagnosis,” the experts’ new prognosis report also states.
