From Wednesday to Thursday, 16,479 new infections were registered in Austria. Within the past 24 hours, 373,301 PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 4.41 percent. The new infections are below the past seven-day average of 17,016, with a seven-day incidence of 1,338.19.
Currently, 232,816 people in Austria are actively infected with coronavirus. There are also 44 new deaths associated with covid 19 infection to report. To date, corona virus has claimed 16,141 lives in Austria.
Currently, 2,749 people are being treated in hospital. That is 124 fewer patients than on Wednesday. Two hundred one people are treated in the intensive care unit, 25 fewer than the previous day.
Vaccinations
Decreased has continued the number of vaccinations. On Wednesday, 3,504 vaccinations were performed. A week ago, there were still 4,227. According to the E-vaccination data, 6.8 million people, or 75.9 percent of the population, have received at least one vaccination. 6.2 million people, or 68.9 percent of Austrians, have proper vaccination protection. Of the 3,504 vaccinations on Wednesday, 165 were first-time vaccinations, 471 were second-time vaccinations, and 2,868 were third-time vaccinations.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) remains highest in Burgenland, at 75.2 percent. In Lower Austria, 71 percent of the population has proper vaccination protection, and in Styria, 69.6 percent. After Vienna (68), Tyrol (66.8), Carinthia (65.8), Salzburg (65.1), and Vorarlberg (64.8), Upper Austria still brings up the rear with 64.5 percent.
