By fall, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla says there could be a new Corona vaccine protecting against the Omicron and other variants.
Omicron vaccine to come in March
“It’s easy to do something just against Omicron,” Bourla explained at an event hosted by the IFPMA pharmaceutical association. More scientifically and technically challenging, he said, is to develop an effective vaccine against all known variants to date.

He said he hopes such a vaccine will be available in autumn. But what the world “really needs,” according to Bourla, is a vaccine that works for a year as people grow tired of vaccines with further boosters. “That’s what we’re working on.” Technically, however, developing an effective vaccine against all known variants to date is very challenging, he said, due to the nature of the virus.
