On Easter weekend, there is a dramatic weather fall.
Today, Maundy Thursday begins in the lowlands and valleys with local fog patches, which quickly dissipate. In the hazy air, however, the sun will shine only intermittently. In the east, a brisk southerly to southeasterly wind will blow. Highs will range between 19 and 25 degrees.
On Good Friday, dense clouds will persist at the beginning north of the Alps and in the inner Alps, with widespread showers. In the south, the sun will often shine in the morning. During the day, rains will fall everywhere; short thunderstorms are also possible. In the second half of the day, the clouds in the north will clear somewhat with further showers; dry spells are also possible south of the main ridge. The wind will blow moderately from the northwest, in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia foehny from the north at 15 to 22 degrees.
On Holy Saturday, many residual clouds will persist initially, and some showers will still fall. In the day, the weather will clear up away from the Alps. It will cool down noticeably with a brisk, strong north wind in the east and the northern foehn regions. The highs will be only between 8 and 17 degrees, with the highest values in East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia.
On Easter Sunday, it will be cold, in the morning even frosty. During the day, there will be a lot of suns, but it will not be hot. Also, because brisk wind sweeps through the whole country, a maximum of 14 degrees is possible. Easter Monday will continue like this: frosty in the morning, dry, sunny, and cold during the day.
