The Robert Koch Institute has recorded just over 22,000 new infections within one day – a week ago, the figure was 160,000. The incidence also continues to fall. However, a comparison is still difficult at present because of the holidays.
The nationwide seven-day incidence of new Corona infections has again fallen significantly. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value in the morning with 669.9. The previous day it had been 808.8, and a week ago, 1080.0. However, the RKI has been pointing out that because of the Easter holidays and vacations, fewer tests are done, and fewer cases of infection are recorded and transmitted than at other times. This means that ” there may be increased under-reporting of cases in the reporting system in the short term,” the institute said. The seven-day incidence quantifies the number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants.
The RKI added, citing data from public health departments, that the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 22,483 – up from 20,482 the day before and 162,790 a week ago. The total number of recorded disease cases in Germany since the beginning of the Corona pandemic increased to 23,459,628.
Within 24 hours, seven other corona virus-related deaths were also recorded, according to the RKI. The total number of recorded corona deaths in Germany thus rose to 132,960. The RKI put the number of people recovered from infection with the coronavirus in Germany since the start of the pandemic at around 20,347,900.
