The total number of recorded cases of infection in Germany since the start of the Corona pandemic increased to 24,200,596.

The nationwide seven-day incidence falls below the 800 mark to start the new week. According to the RKI, it now stands at 790.8. Six more people have died within one day in connection with the coronavirus.

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has again fallen below 800. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value in the morning at 790.8. The previous day it had been at 807.0, a week ago at 808.8. The seven-day incidence quantifies the number of registered new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

The RKI further reported, citing data from public health departments, that the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 20,084, down from 39,179 the previous day and 20,482 a week ago. The total number of recorded disease cases in Germany since the beginning of the Corona pandemic increased to 24,200,596.

It must be taken into account that individual states do not report data every day of the week; for example, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Saxony do not report data at all or not entirely on the weekend. This, in turn, leads to additional reports on subsequent days.

This makes it increasingly challenging to compare daily values. The Easter holidays and the end of vacation last week in some German states also impact. For some time now, experts have been assuming that there is a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to overburdened health authorities and because not all infected persons have a PCR test. Only these count in the statistics.
