The 14er iPhones are presented under the motto “Far out.” Insiders suspect that the new generation will be able to send SMS via satellite.
Rumors were already doing the rounds in 2021. This year it will be that time. According to Tim Farrar, a U.S. expert in satellite communications, Apple CEO Tim Cook will make a partnership with Globalstar official on Wednesday of next week, in addition to the 14-series iPhones. The deal: iPhone users will be able to send and receive text messages free of charge in regions without cellular access via the network of the U.S. satellite provider (which also operates in Europe!).
What also speaks for this: Globalstar announced the order of 17 new satellites at the beginning of the year concerning a mysterious potential customer. In addition, the Apple event has the ambiguous motto “Far out.” The meanings range from “great” to “far away.” Another clue for Farrar is the surprise announcement of the partnership between SpaceX and T-Mobile for satellite telephony with popular smartphones. This was done, Farrar suspects, to get ahead of Apple.
