The Corona traffic light continues to glow yellow-green in many provinces, including Vienna. Compared to the previous week, there was thus no change.
The Corona traffic light on Thursday stuck to its last week’s assessment and continues to rate the whole of Austria as low risk. Along with this, the provinces of Carinthia, Lower Austria, Styria, Tyrol, and Vienna are also rated as low risk – i.e., yellow-green, the Corona Commission reported after its meeting.
Corona traffic light remains at low risk for all of Austria
The experts welcomed the current vaccination recommendation of the National Vaccination Panel on the 4th sting and the appeal to wear masks.
The provinces of Upper Austria, Salzburg, and Vorarlberg are rated at shallow risk – green. Burgenland is rated the medium risk of the five-part scale in color yellow. The eastern federal state already found itself in the previous week as the only federal state in the color yellow.
Commission welcomes new vaccination recommendation from NIG
The Corona Commission reiterated the continued importance of Corona vaccination to combat the pandemic and protect hospitals from overuse. In this context, the Commission welcomed the current recommendations of the National Immunization Panel that now all persons aged twelve years and older should get the booster vaccination, i.e., the fourth sting. The experts also reiterated the relevance of medicines to protect against severe disease progression. In this context, the measures taken to provide the medical profession with targeted information and education about these drugs are welcomed. The Commission recommends that further steps be taken to increase the use of such medicines, such as targeted information and education of the population, especially vulnerable persons.
Also welcomed was this week’s appeal by Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) to the public to wear FFP2 masks wherever the minimum distance of two meters cannot be maintained. Rauch had also announced that the obligation to wear masks in public transport and supermarkets could be reintroduced in the fall in the event of rising new Corona infections and increasing hospital exposure. The Corona Commission was also pleased about this.
