According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the coronavirus pandemic is nearing its end.
The world has never been better positioned to have survived the coronavirus pandemic, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Wednesday.

“We haven’t made it yet. But the end is in sight.” For now, however, he said, countries must still stick to their efforts to fight the coronavirus.
Last week, fewer people died from the pathogen than at any time since March 2020, according to the U.N. agency. WHO expects waves of disease to continue in the future, said Maria Kerkhove, technical director of the Covid-19 program. But the world has powerful tools at its disposal, such as vaccines and antiviral drugs.
