Britain’s Royal Mint has unveiled coins featuring the portrait of the new King Charles III for the first time.
The 73-year-old’s profile will initially appear on a new 5-pound commemorative coin and a 50-pence coin commemorating Queen Elizabeth II, who recently died at the age of 96.

Following an old tradition, the monarch looks to his right after his mother has turned her head to the left. The commemorative coins are to be available as early as October. The 50 pence coins will be gradually put into circulation from December onwards, the Royal Mint announced on Friday.
