Currently, electricity prices on the market are so high that electricity from renewable plants does not need subsidies. According to E-Control, electricity prices will also remain high for a while.
The price on the market is currently so high that electricity from renewable plants does not need subsidies, and suppliers prefer to sell it directly. “This is a high-price phase that will probably continue for a while,” said E-Control board member Wolfgang Urbantschitsch. The current figures underline his assessment: the electricity price index for November 2022 is 16.8% above the previous month’s value, and compared to November 2021, the inflation amounts to 342.2%.
The further increase in the market price suggests that the renewable subsidy (which was set to zero this year) will not increase for 2022 either, according to the energy regulator.
