It was reported Wednesday that 13,048 new Corona infections were registered across Austria on Tuesday. This is above the average for the previous seven days (11,027). The seven-day incidence was 855 cases per 100,000 population. There are now 115,350 laboratory-confirmed active cases in Austria, up 1,374 from the previous day.
Corona new infections and hospitalizations decline.
On Wednesday, 2,468 infected people needed hospital treatment across Austria, down by 58 from Tuesday. Within a week, there was a decrease of 125 hospital patients. Four more seriously ill patients in intensive care units had to be treated on Wednesday than on the previous day, and 124 infected persons were hospitalized. That was six fewer than a week ago.
More than 20,000 Corona deaths since the beginning of the pandemic
Authorities reported ten new covid deaths. Last week, 49 deaths were recorded. The Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 20,953 lives in Austria since it broke out. Per 100,000 population, 232.1 people have died as a result of infection. There have already been 5,369,885 confirmed cases in Austria since the pandemic began.
19,294 Corona vaccinations in Austria on Tuesday
Across Austria, 19,294 Corona vaccinations were administered on Tuesday, of which 17,672 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th, and each subsequent dose). A total of 976,703 people have received booster vaccinations so far.
