In Austria, 5,465 new infections were reported on Saturday, which is below the average of the past seven days (5,594) and caused active Corona cases to shrink by 4,680 to 68,709. The seven-day incidence also dropped to 433.8 per 100,000. In addition, there were five deaths related to the virus.
As of Saturday morning, 1,991 people were in the hospital, down by 17 from the previous day. One hundred people were cared for in intensive care units; this number has increased by one since yesterday but has decreased by 28 patients in one week.
Seventeen thousand three hundred seventy-seven vaccinations were given Friday, of which 15,829 were boosters. Five million two hundred sixteen thousand five hundred eighty-seven people, or 57.8 percent of Austrians, are validly vaccinated according to the recommendation of the National Immunization Panel (NIG).
