According to AGES, the number of new Corona infections registered in Austria on Thursday is below the 5,000 mark. Fewer than 1,000 infected people were in the hospital on Friday morning.
According to the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), 4,136 new Corona infections were registered in Austria on Thursday. This is in line with the average of 4,089 cases over the past seven days. There were 942 infected people in the hospital on Friday morning – four fewer than the previous day but eight more than a week ago. Sixty-seven affected people are being treated in intensive care units, five fewer than last Friday. Since the previous day, 14 covid deaths have been added.
Fewer than 4,200 new Corona infections were reported Friday.
The Corona pandemic has claimed 21,179 lives in Austria since its outbreak. Laboratory-confirmed cases of infection to date total 5,539,629. The effective reproduction rate, which indicates how many more people an infected person will infect, rose above the critical 1.0 mark at 1.05 (the previous week 0.95). According to AGES, the number of new infections increased slightly for the second week, with a daily increase rate of 3.0 percent (the previous week 0.6 percent).
