WhatsApp is used to send messages as well as heaps of photos. However, you must cut back on the quality if you want to send a snapshot with the app. This is to change in the future.
WhatsApp reduces the size of photos
WhatsApp will shrink the photos to save storage space if you want to share pictures with your contacts. An image with a size of a few megabytes then becomes one with a length of a few 100 kilobytes. This has the advantage that fewer data is used for sending and receiving. However, the size and quality of the image suffer.
Previously, you could get around the loss of quality by sending the image as a “document.” In doing so, you tap on the paperclip symbol in the chat field, select “Document,” and search for the photo in the cell phone memory. On the one hand, this is time-consuming; on the other hand, the picture preview is not displayed in the chat.
Option for better quality photos
WhatsApp now wants to solve this problem. According to WABetaInfo, the company is working on being able to send pictures in better quality. In a new beta version of the app, users can choose whether a photo should be sent in the “best quality,” in “data saving mode,” or “automatically.”
“Better quality,” unfortunately, does not mean original quality but merely a variant in which the image is not compressed as much. However, work is also to be done on sending authentic images. However, it is not known when the feature will be rolled out.
