The so-called 100-year calendar dates back to the records of Mauritius Knaur, the abbot of the Langheim Monastery, in the 17th century. He assumes that the planets primarily determine the weather, whose sequences are repeated every seven years.
Many still use the calendar, first published in 1704 under the name Knaurs. Also, about the coming winter, it holds some forecasts known, which may be interesting for one or the other.
A cold winter approaching
According to magazines Echo24 and HNA, the winter of 2023 is expected to be as unpredictable as the previous season. The winter is supposed to start at the end of December with cold and uncomfortable weather, which is supposed to last through the turn of the year.
January may already bring one or the other frost; it is to remain essentially cold. Also, snow and rain are possible, as the 100-year calendar further predicts. The whole thing is also supposed to continue mainly through February.
More excellent weather towards the end of winter
As soon as it goes towards spring, the weather is supposed to show its more excellent side again: The first days of March should still be “rough,” as they say, but with a view to the next season, the sun may well show itself, and it will be warmer.
Whether the calendar is reliable remains to be seen; the fact is that weather experts can usually only make predictions about the next few days. Nevertheless, the 100-year calendar is popular with farmers mainly because of its advice on harvesting and cultivation.
