Many people imagine endless white beaches when thinking of a luxury vacation. But how much does a day in such a paradise cost?

The renowned travel company, Florida Panhandle recently published an analysis of the most expensive and cheapest vacation destinations worldwide, especially in the USA.

At the top of the exclusive list is Gustavia, the capital of St. Barthélemy, better known as St. Barth, in the Caribbean.
Known for its luxurious flair, pristine beaches, and first-class hotels, it’s hardly surprising that Gustavia was named the most expensive destination in the world. The analysis shows that the average cost of a day’s vacation in Gustavia is an impressive €1,700 per person, not even considering the cost of flights.

The financial hurdle for potential visitors

The study adds that the cost of a round-trip flight from LAX to the island averages $2,772, which adds to the financial hurdle for potential visitors. However, despite the high cost of transportation and accommodation, vacationers can enjoy some nature excursions on the island for free.

The results are based on a comprehensive analysis of 100 popular destinations worldwide, considering average daily costs, transportation costs, prices for the three most popular attractions, food costs, and airfares. Florida Panhandle points out that the average airfare costs were generally calculated for travel within the US. This does not directly address the discussion of high airfares from other countries, such as Germany.

In addition to tropical paradises, the study also considers the preferences of holidaymakers seeking luxury in the form of winter sports. It emphasises that European destinations are also included on the list of the most expensive vacation destinations.
