Education changes the lives of children and their families. Only a good school education can improve the lives of children and their families in the long term.
With this approach in mind, we have decided to open a kindergarten in Brgy. Idio, Sebaste, Antique, Philippines.
The situation
After the COVID-19 epidemic in 2021, we were asked if we could make the unused part of our building in the village available for a kind of kindergarten.
Since the building had not been used in the past few years, we decided to open it for this purpose. Though the building is not yet finished and has no proper windows, doors, or comfort rooms, it has been used for more or less 25 children.
Because of political issues in the area, the local government could not support the project. The initiators of the kindergarten project find it difficult to shoulder all the finances, i.e., teaching materials, teacher salaries, and building maintenance.
Since we got involved in this project, we have been trying our best to help in many ways to get the kindergarten school going.
Thanks to our benefactors, who have been helping us financially.
Donations for the Kindergarten
The Babaylan Austria, together with FAMA (Philippine-Assistance Movement in Austria) and the Council of Filipinos in Austria) donated for the construction of a comfort room.
A second comfort room had been financed by benevolent donors from the Parish of Leopoldau and the Heart of Jesus Parish in Vienna’s 21. District.
Thanks to Bruni Weiszgerber and Sylvia Wieser, who visited the place and saw the kindergarten’s situation.
Further renovations and maintenance of the Kindergarten building
Recently, the roof of the building was replaced since the old roof was already in bad condition. This had to be done to ensure the safety of the children. The ceiling has not yet been completed.
A proper electrical installation is being planned, though the needed financial help is still missing.
The Kindergarten in Idio is a free service for the children in the area. We aim to offer the children a safe space to be children. Here, they get to eat and have the opportunity to play, learn, sing, pray, and do handicrafts. We want to actively contribute to positively influencing the lives of children in this place. We are convinced that a safe place, food, education, Christian values, and learning through play are the basis for a good future.
Join us in supporting the children’s future in Idio with a sponsorship, a donation, or perhaps even as an annual social project!
Join in, do something good, and become a sponsor, partner, or project sponsor.
