After high temperatures in the past few days, a cold front is expected in the coming week.

Details on the weather in Vienna
The summer temperatures are over for the time being. The weather on a cold front will change significantly at the beginning of the week. Geosphere Austria announced that dense clouds will arrive from the west on Monday, bringing increasing rain and heavy showers in places. The precipitation will significantly relieve allergy sufferers who react to birch and ash pollen.

Cold front puts an end to summery April from Monday
Individual thunderstorms are also likely on Monday, especially from Salzburg eastward. It will remain largely dry and sunny until the evening, mainly in Lower Carinthia and southern Styria. The front will bring moderate-to-brisk, sometimes even strong, westerly winds near thunderstorms. Early temperatures will mostly be between eight and 16 degrees, with daily highs from west to southeast between 16 and 28 degrees.

The sky will remain cloudy on Tuesday, and showers will fall again and again. In the south, the rain will intensify, and it will rain from Upper Carinthia to the industrial district, often persistently and sometimes heavily. The snow line will drop to between 900 and 1,200 metres. The wind will blow briskly from westerly directions in the country’s western half. With heavy rain in the east, it will remain rather light. Early temperatures are three to ten degrees, and daytime highs are eight to 14 degrees.

Snow is also to be expected again above the 1,000 metre mark
Dense clouds will dominate most of the country on Wednesday until the evening. Chances of sunshine are greatest in the far east and south-east. With the clouds, rain and showers are also expected at a snow line between 800 and 1,200 metres, especially from Vorarlberg along the northern side of the Alps to Upper Austria and western Lower Austria. On the northern edge of the Alps, it will also rain for longer periods. The wind will blow moderately from west to north, with brisk winds in exposed locations and temperatures of two to eight degrees in the morning. Daytime highs will reach six to 14 degrees.

The influence of disturbances will also bring numerous dense clouds throughout the Eastern Alps on Thursday, which will also bring repeated rain showers with a snow line between 600 and 1,200 metres. Occasionally, sleet showers may even mix in with the precipitation. Longer sunny spells will be the exception rather than the rule. The wind will blow from the west to the north-west and be moderate to brisk, especially in the foehn valleys in the south, the Vienna Basin, and the eastern edge of the Alps. Early in the morning, temperatures will fluctuate between minus one and plus six degrees. During the day, it will be four to 13 degrees inside.

Temperatures will remain cooler until Friday
Austria will remain under the influence of a low-pressure vortex and cold air masses from northern Europe on Friday. This means there will be repeated thick clouds, especially north of the main Alpine ridge and north and east, bringing rain and showers with a snow line of around 1,000 metres. Further south and southeast, however, the sun will shine more often and for longer periods. Short showers will be limited to the mountains. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from west to north, with early morning temperatures between minus one and plus three degrees. During the day, temperatures will reach nine to 14 degrees.
