This year, flu vaccination will be offered free of charge throughout Austria; in Vienna, appointments will be available in the city’s vaccination centers starting on 4 November.
According to a press release from the office of City Councillor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) on Monday, these can be booked from October 28. Following an agreement between the federal government, the provinces, and the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), the flu vaccination will be free of charge this fall and winter; last year, a prescription fee was still due.
Around 250,000 vaccine doses for Vienna
Around 250,000 vaccination doses are available for Vienna, of which around 85,000 will be given at the city’s vaccination centers alone. These are the vaccination centers in Vienna-Landstraße, the Schrödingerplatz vaccination center in Donaustadt, and a vaccination center in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, the location of which is yet to be announced. Doctors in private practice and at ÖGK health centers also offer flu vaccination throughout Austria.
Further information can be found online on the ÖGK website or by calling the flu vaccination hotline at 0043-50766-501510. A list of all registered doctors in Vienna offering the vaccination can be found on the Vienna Medical Association website. Vaccination appointments at the city’s vaccination centers can be booked from 28 October either online at www.impfservice.wien or by calling the health hotline 1450. Combined vaccination appointments with simultaneous influenza and COVID-19 vaccination are also possible at the TownTown vaccination center.
