Saturday, 29 November 2024 – After a week filled with awe-inspiring sights and cultural experiences, we bid farewell today to the Turkish landscapes of Antalya and Cappadocia, concluding a memorable vacation before boarding an early flight back to Vienna. This week-long escape, which merged coastal beauty with surreal landscapes, provided a glimpse into Turkey’s rich cultural and geographical diversity.

The vacation began in Cappadocia, known for its surreal landscapes of unique rock formations, underground cities, and hot air balloon rides. Each sunrise in Cappadocia painted the sky with hues of orange and pink as dozens of balloons drifted above the “fairy chimneys” and rugged valleys, providing an unforgettable view for visitors. The experience allowed us to immerse ourselves in the area’s geological wonders, including guided tours of the Göreme National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the middle of the week, we shifted to Antalya, Turkey’s jewel on the Mediterranean coast, renowned for its sun-soaked beaches and ancient ruins. Tourists marvelled at the seamless blend of history and leisure, with visits to the preserved Old Town, Kaleiçi, and the ruins of the ancient city of Perge. Antalya’s warmth and the hospitality of locals made the stay especially welcoming, with us enjoying a variety of Turkish delicacies in seaside cafes and exploring the vibrant bazaars.

As we packed our bags and prepared to leave Turkey’s heartland behind, we expressed gratitude for the chance to explore its extraordinary beauty and cultural depth. I cherish the memories of the sights and sounds that made the trip unforgettable. As we boarded our return flight to Vienna, we carried souvenirs and a renewed appreciation for Turkey’s wonders.
