Donauinselfest 2026 kicks off this weekend, turning Vienna’s Danube Island into Europe’s biggest open‑air party once again. Now in its 43rd edition, the three‑day festival is putting a strong spotlight on inclusion — with new accessibility services, sign‑language support and quiet zones spread across the grounds. Here’s everything visitors need to know before heading out.
A Festival Focused on Inclusion
This year’s Donauinselfest introduces expanded accessibility measures: shuttle and companion services for people with disabilities, selected sign‑language translations on the main stage, and designated quiet zones across the 4.5‑kilometre festival area. Organizers say the goal is to make Austria’s largest free festival welcoming for everyone.
Dates & Location
The festival runs Friday, 3 July, to Sunday, 5 July, stretching between the Floridsdorfer Brücke and the Reichsbrücke, including the Copa Beach area. Music plays until midnight each night, with one exception: the Ö3 Silent Disco continues until 1:00 AM on Sunday.
Admission
The Donauinselfest remains free of charge, staying true to its tradition as Europe’s largest open‑air festival with no entry fee.
Program Highlights
The full program is available online, but here are a few standout acts:
- Friday: Indie duo YUKNO and Vienna artist Schwesta Ebra
- Saturday: Singer‑songwriter Laurenz Nikolaus
- Sunday: Violinist and cabaret newcomer Aliosha Biz
Getting There
Public transport is the easiest way to reach the festival:
- U6: Handelskai, Neue Donau
- U1: Donauinsel
- From Hauptbahnhof: U1
- From Westbahnhof: U6
The Wiener Linien will shorten evening U‑Bahn intervals to three minutes. Tram lines 25, 26, 31 and bus lines 11A, 29A also run more frequently.
Avoid driving — there are no parking spaces nearby, and fines for illegal parking exceed €400, according to ÖAMTC.
S‑Bahn Disruptions & Alternatives
Due to the S‑Bahn Stammstrecke closure on Saturday and Sunday, a special transport plan is in place:
- Friday night: S‑Bahn runs normally until 2:00 AM
- From Saturday:
- U6, S45 (Handelskai–Hütteldorf via Heiligenstadt) and Tram 31 operate at tighter intervals
- S45 increases capacity at Heiligenstadt (connection to U4)
- A 24/7 rail replacement service runs between Floridsdorf – Handelskai – Traisengasse – Praterstern
Stage end times will be staggered to ease crowd flow, supported by announcements, LED walls and guidance systems.
Bikes & E‑Scooters
Cyclists and e‑scooter riders can use one of five free, guarded ARBÖ bike garages at:
- Floridsdorfer Brücke
- Schnellbahnbrücke
- Brigittenauer Brücke
- Reichsbrücke
Open daily from 14:00 to 00:30.
Temporary WienMobil stations near Floridsdorfer Brücke, Handelskai and Reichsbrücke offer 24‑hour bike rentals and returns.
Important: Bikes and e‑scooters are not allowed on the festival grounds.

Visitors with disabilities can book a free shuttle service via FullAccess fullaccess@donauinselfest.at or +43 660 460 65 81.
