If you follow the right rules, fasting can be refreshing, invigorating, and liberating.
Myth 1: You only lose water when fasting
Yes, much water is lost at the beginning – that’s normal. But fasting can also burn fat if you do it right. It is important that you drink enough and don’t fall back into your old eating habits straight after fasting. Otherwise the yo-yo effect will be here before you can say “break the fast”.
Myth 2: drink, drink, drink!
You can go without food for a while—without liquids, it becomes critical. Drink at least two to three liters of water or unsweetened tea a day. Coffee? It’s allowed in moderation. But please avoid sugar and cream; otherwise, the fasting effect will be lost.
Myth 3: You lose muscle mass when fasting
Only if you overdo it does your body draw on sugar reserves and fat. Only if you don’t eat for weeks does your body start to break down muscle. A little exercise and light strength training help to prevent this.
Myth 4. ´Gentle start, gentle end
Don’t jump into fasting overnight! Cut down on sugar, coffee, and fatty foods beforehand. And after fasting? Please don’t eat a pizza straight away. Otherwise your stomach will be offended and thank you with a stomach ache.
Myth 5: Fasting makes you weak and tired
Not necessarily! Sure, the first few days can be challenging, but many people experience a real explosion of energy afterwards. The body switches to burning fat – and that often feels good.
Caution: Listen to your body. If you constantly feel dizzy or low, treat yourself to a small meal. After all, fasting should be good for you—not torture you!
