From today, 17 March, around 130,000 low-income households in Vienna will be able to apply for the EUR 100 compensation bonus from Wien Energie. This measure is intended to cushion the impact of the abolition of the electricity price brake and provide relief for directly affected customers.
Who is eligible?
Wien Energie electricity customers exempt from the ORF household tax are eligible. The credit will be offset directly against upcoming installments or outstanding invoices. The bonus can be claimed once per customer.
There are three ways to apply:
- Online
- In person: At the Spittelau, Erdberg, and Guntramsdorf service centers
- By post: To Wien Energie, reference “Ausgleichsbonus”, P.O. Box 520, 1030 Vienna
All you need is your name, customer number and proof of exemption from the ORF household tax. The campaign runs until 30 June 2025.
Quick help for households in need
“The fight against inflation is and remains one of our most urgent tasks. In Vienna, we are actively implementing relief measures for affected households. The 100 euro compensation bonus from Wien Energie is aimed at around 130,000 low-income Viennese, who are thus relieved of energy costs”, emphasizes Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig. Wien Energie Managing Director Michael Strebl also emphasizes: “With the equalization bonus, we are creating unbureaucratic, quick and targeted relief for low-income people. At the same time, we are focusing on long-term support through our proven cooperation with social organizations – for a secure energy supply even in difficult life situations”.
Cooperation with social organizations
Wien Energie has been committed to supporting socially disadvantaged people for years. During the energy crisis, social packages worth 22 million euros were distributed as energy vouchers to organizations such as Caritas, the Red Cross, and Volkshilfe.
The promotion runs until 30 June 2025.
