The Philippine Embassy in Vienna reported that more than 30 Filipino women in Austria enhanced their financial management skills at the Financial Empowerment Seminar for Women, which the Embassy hosted in cooperation with the Philippine Association in Niederösterreich and the City of St. Pölten. Held in St. Pölten, Lower Austria, on 22 March 2025, the event was part of the National Women’s Month celebration under the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
The seminar featured an insightful lecture by Ms. Angelica Vuzem-dela Rosa, an investment consultant and former financial adviser to diplomatic missions at UniCredit Bank Austria AG. She guided participants on key financial topics, including budgeting, asset-building, responsible borrowing, and investment strategies suited to various financial goals. Attendees also received practical worksheets to help plan their monthly budgets and set savings and retirement objectives.

Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Mr. Zoilo A. Velasco underscored the long-term benefits of financial literacy, emphasizing its role in empowering women, families, and communities. “Financial education is a crucial step toward empowerment. It is something that should be encouraged across nations and communities. True empowerment begins with knowledge,” he stated.
Representatives from the City of St. Pölten, including State Councilor Mag. Renate Gamsjäger and Ms. Martina Eigelsreiter from the Diversity Office, extended a warm welcome to the Filipino community and highlighted Austria’s ongoing initiatives to promote gender equality.
The program concluded with an engaging Q&A session and the presentation of certificates of appreciation to participants, marking a successful and impactful event for all involved.
The Philippine Association in Niederösterreich (PANÖ), under the leadership of Ms. Janet Heiss, the organization’s president, expressed its gratitude to the Philippine Embassy, the city of St. Pölten, and the invited speakers for the success of the seminary.
