MANILA, Philippines — The Austria Job Fair, held on May 27, 2025, at Robinsons Galleria, brought thousands of Filipino job seekers face-to-face with over 800 job openings in Austria, spanning multiple high-demand sectors.

The event was a joint effort by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the Austrian Embassy in Manila, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Philippines, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO), and the Austrian Business Agency (ABA). Licensed recruitment agencies offered positions in various fields, including construction, architecture, manufacturing, healthcare, household services, hospitality, and culinary arts.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, OWWA Administrator Atty. PY Caunan, and Austrian Ambassador Johann Brieger led the opening ceremonies, along with officials from the Austrian Economic Chamber. In his keynote, Ambassador Brieger reaffirmed Austria’s commitment to fair and ethical recruitment, saying, “We value the skills and contributions of Filipino workers and will ensure they are treated with dignity and fairness.”

The fair follows a memorandum of understanding signed between the Philippines and Austria’s Federal Ministry for Labor and Economy. The agreement ensures that the recruitment process adheres to strict ethical standards. Filipino workers hired through this program will receive the same minimum wage and benefits as Austrian citizens, reinforcing labor equality and protection.

Participants welcomed the opportunity, with many expressing optimism about secure and rewarding careers abroad. Organizers hailed the event as a success and a major step forward in international labor cooperation.

As global demand grows for skilled and reliable workers, Austria positions itself as a safe and supportive destination for Filipinos seeking overseas employment, backed by government oversight and bilateral safeguards.
