Changes when entering the EU
From October 2025, there will be important changes when entering the EU, as the new European Entry/Exit System (EES) will go live on October 12, which means digital recording of biometric data for non-EU citizens.
The new EES replaces the manual passport stamp for non-EU citizens with digital recording of data such as name, date of birth, and biometric features such as fingerprints and facial image. This is intended to simplify and make the control and management of third-country nationals’ entries and exits more secure.
End of Windows 10 support
On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will discontinue security updates for Windows 10. Anyone who continues to use the operating system will no longer receive official patches after that date. Users should consider whether switching to Windows 11 or another solution makes sense in order to remain protected.
Time change in October
Daylight saving time ends on the night of October 25 to 26, 2025. At 3 a.m., the clocks will be set back to 2 a.m. Germany will then be back in standard time.
