The City of Vienna warns of a scam involving fake collection emails for “parking fines.”
The City of Vienna has received reports of emails in which a collection agency called COEO-Inkasso demands alleged “parking fines” on behalf of the city. Among other things, recipients are offered a “settlement with a 50% discount” if they acknowledge the claim.
City of Vienna provides tips against scam
MA 67 – Parking Space Monitoring emphasizes that there is no cooperation between the City of Vienna and “COEO-Inkasso.” The emails mentioned are fake messages.
The scam can be recognized by the following:
- Unusual payment requests by email, including “immediate discounts” or settlement offers.
- Reference to an “agreement with the City of Vienna.”
- Payment links or QR codes in the email.
The City of Vienna advises:
- Do not reply, do not click, do not pay.
- Delete the message.
If you are unsure, check the official notice or the stamped payment information from the City of Vienna.
Report suspicious cases to Stadtservice Wien (+43 1 4000-4001).
The City of Vienna does not send parking tickets by email through external collection agencies and does not offer 50 percent settlement offers. Payments can only be made using the methods specified in the official notice.
