The Wienliebe Festival returns to Vienna’s Rathausplatz from 23–25 May, celebrating the city’s culture, cuisine, craftsmanship, and—new this year—sports.
The Wienliebe Festival is gearing up for its third edition, transforming Vienna’s Rathausplatz once again into a vibrant showcase of everything that defines the Austrian capital. Running from 23 to 25 May, the event remains free to attend and follows directly after the Eurovision Song Contest, extending the festive atmosphere in the heart of the city.
A Festival That Grows With the City
This year marks an expansion of the festival’s concept: alongside its established pillars—Wiener culture, culinary specialties, and traditional craftsmanship—the program introduces a fourth focus area: Viennese sports. The addition aims to highlight the city’s dynamic athletic scene and encourage visitors to participate in various activities.
Strong Attendance and Broad Appeal
According to city officials, last year’s edition drew 74,500 visitors, a number the organizers hope to surpass in 2026. The festival’s timing, immediately after the Eurovision festivities, is expected to attract both locals and international guests who are already in the city.
Music Across Two Stages
The program promises an eclectic musical lineup, ranging from Austropop and musical theatre to traditional Wienerlied. Performances will take place on the main stage in front of the Rathaus and a smaller stage in the adjacent park. On Saturday, local dance schools will host interactive sessions, inviting attendees to join in.
Craftsmanship and Culinary Delights
In cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, 15 artisan workshops will offer insights into their craft, showcasing the city’s rich tradition of handmade goods. Meanwhile, food stalls will highlight classic Viennese cuisine, ensuring that culinary enjoyment remains a central part of the festival experience.
Spotlight on Sports
For the first time, the festival will feature a dedicated sports program on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00. Visitors can explore various athletic activities and learn more about Vienna’s diverse sports landscape.
A Celebration of Vienna’s Spirit
City leaders emphasize that the Wienliebe Festival is designed as a celebration “from Vienna, for Vienna,” highlighting the city’s cultural richness, hospitality, and high quality of life. The event aims to bring residents together while showcasing the best the metropolis has to offer.
With its expanded program and festive atmosphere, the third edition of the Wienliebe Festival promises a lively and engaging weekend for all who love Vienna—or are ready to fall in love with it.
