Austria is heading into a brief dip in temperatures before summer warmth makes a swift comeback. After a mild and sunny Thursday, a passing cold front on Friday will bring cooler air and some rain — but only for a short time. By the weekend, sunshine and highs of up to 29°C are back on the agenda, according to Geosphere Austria.
Thursday: Early Summer Feeling Before Clouds Move In
Large parts of the country enjoy a bright and mostly sunny day, with only thin high clouds gradually spreading. In the west, however, thicker clouds from an approaching disturbance arrive around midday. By late afternoon or evening, Vorarlberg and Tyrol can expect the first rain showers, some of them thundery.

Friday: Cold Front Sweeps Through
A weakening cold front moves from west to east, bringing widespread clouds and light rain. In the east and south, showers may linger into midday, while the west and north brighten up sooner. A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers follows, but most regions — except the southern Alps — dry out by evening.

Saturday: Sunshine Dominates, Isolated Showers in the West
The weekend starts off sunny across Austria. In the western half and alpine regions, cumulus clouds build during the day, with isolated showers possible. The east remains largely dry and bright until evening.

Sunday: Summer Returns With Up to 29°C
Sunday brings widespread sunshine and a distinctly summery feel. While some clouds form over the mountains, they remain mostly harmless. Only the western regions may see a brief, weak shower.

Monday: Warm, Increasingly Unstable
The new week begins friendly, but daytime heating triggers more clouds and possible thunderstorms in the mountains. In the west, a new disturbance approaches by evening, bringing thicker cloud cover. Winds remain light to moderate from the east to south.
