Europe’s airport landscape has a new hierarchy. A fresh data-driven ranking from AirHelp—one of the world’s leading passenger‑rights organizations—evaluates 279 airports across 76 countries and delivers a clear verdict on which European hubs excel and which fall short.

The assessment draws on almost 14,300 passenger reviews from 68 countries and combines three weighted factors:

  • Punctuality (60%)
  • Passenger experience (20%)
  • Facilities and comfort (20%)

Travellers rated staff, waiting times, accessibility, cleanliness, signage, information quality, and the food and shopping offer—each on a scale from “very poor” to “very good.”

Persistent complaints about queues and delays continue to affect its reputation.

4. Heraklion Airport, Crete, Greece (World Rank: 268)

Another Mediterranean airport hampered by punctuality issues.

5. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, France (World Rank: 267)

Despite its glamorous location, Nice lands near the bottom of the European list.

What the Rankings Reveal

The 2026 results highlight a clear divide: Nordic and smaller regional airports dominate the top tier thanks to efficiency and traveller satisfaction, while major tourist gateways in southern Europe struggle with delays and infrastructure pressure.
