A weak weather disturbance will bring unsettled conditions across Austria on Thursday, characterized by repeated rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. While southern regions will escape the worst of the wet weather, sunny spells are expected to break through intermittently across the country.
Austria is in for a highly changeable weather day this Thursday. The weak disturbance moving through will cause dense cloud cover to drift across the region, bringing widespread rain showers and the potential for localized thunderstorms to develop. Areas north of the main Alpine ridge will bear the brunt of the precipitation, with rain occurring repeatedly throughout the day.
In contrast, southern Austria is expected to remain largely dry. Despite the overall unstable conditions, the sun will make welcome appearances between the clouds, with the best chances for extended sunny intervals arriving in the afternoon.
Snow Line Drops and Brisk Winds
In the mountains, the snow line is set to drop temporarily to around 2,000 meters above sea level. Winds will be mostly moderate to brisk, blowing from the west and north, though southern regions will remain relatively calm.
Morning temperatures will start out cooler, ranging from 4 to 11 °C. As the day goes on, daytime highs are expected to reach 14 to 22 °C.
