With only days to go before one of Austria’s biggest celebrations of Filipino culture, hundreds of participants of PAMANA V – Philippine Festivals Parade & Cultural Extravaganza gathered on August 31, 2026, for their final briefing, parade formation and Unity Dance rehearsal at the parish garden of Leopoldau in Vienna’s 21st District.
The gathering marked an important final stage in preparations for the fifth edition of PAMANA V, bringing together Filipino community groups, cultural performers, volunteers and supporters from across Austria. The event will be staged in Vienna on September 5, 2026.
Participants received their final instructions regarding the parade, including the parade order, coordination, formations and other organizational details. The preparations culminated in a Unity Dance, with hundreds of participants joining together in a vibrant display of cooperation and community spirit.
The event was led by ENFiD Austria, headed by Marizel Rojas, who serves as the main organizer of PAMANA V. Organizers expressed their appreciation to everyone who attended the final preparations and contributed their time and energy to making the event possible.
“One Heritage. One People. One Future.”
This year’s celebration carries particular historical significance as the Philippines and Austria commemorate the 80th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations, marking eight decades of friendship, cooperation and people-to-people connections between the two countries.
The event is expected to attract Filipinos from different parts of Austria, together with Austrian friends, tourists and members of Vienna’s international community.
A Journey Through the Philippines Without Leaving Vienna
The festivities will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Stephansplatz, where participants will perform the energetic Unity Dance Flashmob before the official parade begins.
The colorful procession will pass through some of Vienna’s most iconic locations, including:
- Stephansplatz
- Graben
- Bognergasse
- Am Hof
- Heidenschuß
- Freyung
- Schottengasse
- Ring
- Sigmund-Freud-Park
Dressed in elaborate traditional and festival costumes, participants will showcase the cultural diversity of the Philippines through music, dance, artistry and regional traditions.
For spectators, the parade will offer an opportunity to experience a journey through the Philippines without leaving the Austrian capital. Different groups will represent some of the country’s well-known festivals and cultural traditions, highlighting the richness of Filipino heritage and the diversity of its more than 7,000 islands.
The Celebration Continues at Sigmund-Freud-Park
PAMANA V will not end with the parade. The celebration will continue at Sigmund-Freud-Park, where activities are scheduled until 5:00 p.m.
Visitors can expect a full day of Filipino culture and community activities, including:
- Live cultural performances
- Traditional music and dance
- Embassy and partner organization booths
- Filipino food stalls
- Community exhibits
- Family-friendly activities
- Information booths
- Cultural displays
The park will provide a space for Filipino and Austrian communities to meet, celebrate and learn from one another.
Eight Decades of Philippine-Austrian Friendship
The 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations gives PAMANA V an added dimension this year.
Over the past decades, Filipinos have become an important part of Austria’s multicultural society. Healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, students, educators, community leaders and many others have contributed to Austrian society while continuing to preserve and share their Filipino heritage.
PAMANA V demonstrates that international friendship is not built solely through official diplomatic relations. It is also strengthened through people-to-people connections, cultural exchange, understanding and mutual respect.
Every traditional costume, dance, song and performance becomes part of that connection between the Philippines and Austria.
A Community United by Heritage
The spectacular celebration on September 5 is the result of months of preparation by volunteers, cultural organizations, performers, community leaders and partners.
The final briefing and Unity Dance in Leopoldau demonstrated the scale of the preparations—and the strong sense of unity among the participants.
For ENFiD Austria and the PAMANA V organizing team, the participation of hundreds of people at the final preparation was also a sign of the community’s commitment to making the fifth edition a memorable celebration.
The event is organized in cooperation with ENFiD Austria and the Embassy of the Philippines in Vienna, bringing together community organizations and partners in an effort to promote Filipino heritage and strengthen intercultural understanding.
An Invitation to Celebrate Filipino Culture
PAMANA V is more than a parade. It is an opportunity for Filipinos to celebrate their roots, for younger generations to connect with their heritage, and for Austrians and international visitors to discover the traditions and stories of the Philippines.
As the colorful procession moves through the heart of Vienna on September 5, the event will send a powerful message of unity: Filipinos may come from thousands of islands and diverse cultural backgrounds, but they can stand together as one community.
This year’s theme, “One Heritage. One People. One Future.”, captures the spirit of PAMANA V while providing a fitting tribute to 80 years of Philippine-Austrian diplomatic friendship.
On September 5, Vienna will not simply host a parade. It will become a meeting place of two cultures, celebrating a friendship that has grown stronger through generations of people-to-people connections.
