VIENNA, Austria — October 9, 2026 — The Filipino Visual Artists in Austria (FVAA) will once again bring Filipino creativity and artistic expression to the spotlight with the upcoming FVAA Wasserturm Exhibit, scheduled from October 28 to 31, 2026, at the historic Wasserturm in Favoriten, Vienna.

Featuring an open theme, the exhibition will offer artists an opportunity to present their individual artistic visions, styles, and interpretations through visual art. The event will welcome art enthusiasts, members of the Filipino community, and the wider Austrian public to discover the diverse talents of Filipino artists living in Austria.

The exhibition’s vernissage, or formal opening, will take place on October 28 at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, making the event accessible to everyone interested in exploring contemporary art and supporting the Filipino artistic community.

Continuing a Tradition of Filipino Artistic Expression

The upcoming exhibition builds on the FVAA’s continuing efforts to promote Filipino visual arts and create opportunities for artists to share their work with a broader audience.

As previously reported by Austrian News in its September 2024 article, “Art Exhibition of the Filipino Visual Artists in Austria: Celebrating the Nuances of Water,” the group brought together artists with different backgrounds, experiences, and artistic approaches for an exhibition at the same venue. The 2024 exhibition, themed “Nuances of Water,” explored the many ways water could be interpreted and represented through art.

Founded in 2019 by Gerry de Guzman and Imelda Papai, the Filipino Visual Artists in Austria provides a platform for professional and self-taught artists to connect, collaborate, and showcase their creative talents. The group embraces different artistic disciplines and encourages its members to express their perspectives through their chosen mediums.

The 2026 Wasserturm Exhibit continues this spirit of collaboration while allowing artists greater freedom to explore subjects that inspire them.

An Open Theme, Diverse Artistic Perspectives

Unlike an exhibition centered on a single subject, this year’s open theme invites artists to present works reflecting their own interests, experiences, and creative imaginations.

Visitors can look forward to an opportunity to discover different artistic styles and perspectives while engaging with the creativity of Filipino artists based in Austria. The exhibition also highlights the contribution of the Filipino diaspora to Vienna’s multicultural arts scene, demonstrating how artistic expression can connect communities across cultural boundaries.

For Filipino artists living abroad, exhibitions such as this provide an important opportunity to share their talent, express their individuality, and build connections with fellow artists and the public.

The event also offers Austrian visitors and other international art enthusiasts a chance to experience the creativity of Filipino artists beyond the more familiar expressions of Philippine culture, such as music, dance, and traditional festivities.

An Invitation to the Public

The FVAA Wasserturm Exhibit will be held at Wasserturm Favoriten, Windtenstraße 3, 1100 Vienna, from October 28 to 31, 2026.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception on October 28 at 6:30 p.m. and visit the exhibition during its four-day run. With free admission, the event encourages people from all backgrounds to appreciate visual art, discover new artistic perspectives, and support Filipino creativity in Austria.

Through exhibitions such as this, the Filipino Visual Artists in Austria continues to strengthen the presence of Filipino artists in the local cultural landscape, fostering artistic exchange, community spirit, and a deeper appreciation of the talents of Filipinos living abroad.
