Current AGES figures show that about one-third of all Corona cases in the past week are associated with travel abroad.
Corona numbers in Austria continue to rise. On Friday, authorities recorded 1,258 new infections. This brings the total number of infections detected in Austria to 5,912 during the week of August 9-15. According to current figures from AGES, the source of infection has been clarified in 70.7 percent of cases.
In almost one third (32.1 percent), the infections could be traced back to travel.
Within only one week, the travel-associated share of infections has increased significantly. Compared to the current value, it was 25.7 percent in the first week of August.
With 42.5 percent of the cases, most infections still occurred in households. The leisure sector, however, accounted for 11.9 percent of infections, while hotels and restaurants accounted for only 5.5 percent.
22.7 percent of infections were asymptomatic. There were 2,987 cluster cases in the previous week- a significant increase from the previous week. There were 1,912 cluster cases.
Authorities again surveyed travel-related Corona cases. In calendar week 31/32, Croatia, Turkey and northern Macedonia led the way.
As in previous weeks, most cases occurred among vacationers to Croatia. A total of 581 infections were recorded here, compared to the two previous weeks, this is a minus of 384. The Turkey cases have increased from 192 to 368. There was also a significant increase in North Macedonia returnees. Here, 361 cases were recorded, an increase of 316.
