From Thursday to Friday, 1,753 new Corona infections were registered in Austria. The figure is above the average of the past seven days (1,457).
There are also seven new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report, bringing the pandemic death toll in Austria to 10,785 so far. The number of active cases increases by 434 to 16,737. The seven-day incidence is 114.56.
There are currently 543 people in Austria’s hospitals related to covid disease, up five from the previous day. 149 patients are in intensive care – seven more than the day before.
In the past 24 hours, 73,573 PCR tests have been performed, with a positive rate of 2.38 percent.
Vaccinations
14,119 vaccinations were carried out on Thursday, compared to at least 20,092 a week ago. 5,223,890, or 58.5 percent of people in Austria, are fully immunized. Among the 15- to 24-year-olds, the rate is 43.5 percent, in the 25- to 34-year-old age group it is 55.4 percent and among the 35- to 44-year-olds it is 61.6 percent – in the vulnerable age group of 75- to 84-year-olds, the rate is 87.1 percent as well as in the 85 plus group.
The highest vaccination coverage rate continues to be in Burgenland, at 68.8 percent. In Lower Austria, the rate is 64.6 percent, and it is still over 60 percent in Styria, Tyrol and Vienna. In Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Salzburg and Upper Austria, the figure is below 60 percent in each case, with Upper Austria bringing up the rear with 57.1 percent.
