What a lockdown for non-immunized people means

Lockdown for non-immunized: the rule will apply to unvaccinated people throughout Austria from Monday and will be decided today. Children under the age of twelve are exempt, as no Corona vaccine has yet been officially approved for them. The measure is intended to “prevent a breakdown in medical care.” A true lockdown it is not. It would mean all recreational facilities, eateries, or most retail would close.

They will remain open, but only to the vaccinated and recovered. Non-immunized people are only allowed to leave the living environment for a few reasons. Going to work (3-G applies here) or to the doctor, taking a walk, shopping at the supermarket, attending a church service all fall under covering basic needs. Going to a vaccination street is also allowed. Shopping in other commercial areas is prohibited: Previously, any area that did not fall under the 2-G rule was open to the group, such as a fashion store now 2-G proof also applies there.

In addition, there are contact restrictions to “closest relatives and caregivers”: a household may only meet one non-household person.

Those who have only received a first vaccination but do not yet have a valid vaccination certificate due to the lack of a “second vaccination” can “free” themselves with a PCR test.

Conference today, Sunday
Today, Sunday, the state governors will hold a video conference with the federal government to discuss measures to curb the current sharp rise in the number of infections. The exit restrictions for the unvaccinated are intended to “prevent a collapse of medical care,” according to the draft ordinance.

Formally, the ordinance still has to be rubber-stamped by the main committee of the National Council on Sunday evening. In view of the Turquoise-Green coalition majority, however, this is considered certain. For the time being, the ordinance is valid until November 24 (10 days) and would then have to be extended.

Additional rules Upper Austria
The federal government’s specifications are the lower edge. Upper Austria closes the night gastronomy until December 6, all events are canceled. In all indoor rooms, FFP2 is mandatory for everyone. This also applies to gastronomy: masks may only be removed at the table. Nothing may be consumed at the Advent markets, FFP2 obligation also applies here. The diocese of Linz reintroduces the distance rules of one meter in churches.

Additional rules Salzburg
There comes FFP2 obligation in all interior rooms as in Upper Austria, with body-close service providers it already applies. In gastronomy, consumption is only allowed at tables. Alcohol is banned at Christmas markets.

Additional rules Vienna
The federal capital has once again tightened the stricter rules. Starting next week, 2-G plus applies in night catering and those areas where more than 25 people gather: Only those who have been vaccinated, recovered and PCR-tested are allowed to go to the bar, theater or cinema (test valid for 48 hours, nationwide: 72 hours). In addition, there is also an FFP2 obligation indoors, as in Salzburg or Upper Austria, and also for trade employees and body-related service providers, despite the 2.5 G rule on the job. At snack stands, the 2-G rule applies (nationwide: up to 15 minutes without 2-G proof). The “Ninja Pass” is considered 2-G proof for students twelve and under (statewide: 15 years).

In Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Tyrol, students and teachers must wear FFP2 masks during classes starting Monday; there are no school events there.
