The number of new cases continues to rise. From Thursday to Friday, 3,624 new infections were registered in Austria. This is a slight increase from the previous day’s 3,225. The seven-day incidence is 200 cases per 100,000 population.
To date, there have been 1,278,619 positive test results in Austria. As of today, 13,733 people have died and 1,234,709 have recovered from coronavirus across Austria.
There are currently 30,177 active corona cases in Austria.
331 in intensive care
Currently, 1,065 people are undergoing hospital treatment due to the virus. Of these, 331 are being cared for in intensive care units.
Highest seven-day incidence Tyrol
The province with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Tyrol with 342.6, followed by Vienna, Vorarlberg and Salzburg (255.8, 249 and 211, respectively). Further, Lower Austria (175), Carinthia (166.2), Styria (143), Upper Austria (141) and Burgenland (131.4) follow. As of Friday, Burgenland added 61 new infections within 24 hours, Carinthia 157, Lower Austria 587, Upper Austria 474 in Salzburg 341, Styria 273, Tyrol 521, Vorarlberg 214 and Vienna 996.
76.3 percent protected in Burgenland
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland, at 76.3 percent. In Lower Austria, 72.6 percent of the population has valid vaccination protection, and in Styria, 70.5 percent. After Vienna (70), Tyrol (69.7), Vorarlberg (67.9), Salzburg (67.5) and Carinthia (67.3), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 66.4 percent.
