Falling measures seem to make the “green passport” obsolete. But there are facilities where you still need them.

Across Europe, measures are falling. Last Monday, Austria lifted all entry rules imposed because of the pandemic. No 3G proof is required when entering Austria, so the “green passport” is currently obsolete. But where do you need it at all at the moment?

According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, a 3G certificate is only required where vulnerable groups need to be protected according to the current status. This applies in hospitals and care facilities – both for staff and visitors. A corona officer and a prevention concept are required for more than 500 people gatherings. Green passport, 3G – new entry rules apply as of today.

If the Green Passport has already expired, a current PCR test or an antigen test with a certificate (living room tests do not apply!) can be shown. These tests fall under the exemption if a regular hospital visit is required. This means they will not be deducted from the free quota of 5 available to each Social Security beneficiary per month. However, this must be stated before test submission.

With warm temperatures now moving life outside, a new wave of infections is not expected over the summer. However, the situation would have to be re-evaluated in the fall about the two new Corona variants, BA.4 and BA.5. Then it will also be seen whether or not the green passport will have to be used again.
