After Christmas, an XXL asteroid is coming dangerously close to us. If it hits Earth, it could cause tremendous damage.
If it goes after the web page of the “Center for Near Earth Object Studies” of the US space agency NASA, a gigantic asteroid comes dangerously close to the Earth after Christmas. However, no one should be afraid of a catastrophe.

The asteroid “2010 XC15” reached the closest point to Earth on its trajectory at around 6:15 p.m. on December 27. Then the rocky chunk is only about 770,000 million kilometres away from Earth. Although the asteroid is considered potentially dangerous due to its proximity to our planet, fortunately, the rock is not on a collision course. And that’s just as well!
Indeed, with a diameter of up to 300 meters (more significant than the DC Tower in Vienna), it could cause tremendous damage in the event of an impact on Earth. But at the same time, space researchers are giving the all-clear against such apocalypse scenarios: Although “2010 XC15” is on level 3 of the Turin scale, there are ten levels.

But the 300-meter asteroid is not the only colossal rock that will come dangerously close to Earth shortly. The “Center for Near Earth Object Studies” already lists the next giant near-Earth asteroid for February 16, 2023. With a diameter of approximately one kilometre (!), the asteroid 2005 YY28 is more significant than its predecessor. However, it comes close to the earth “only” about 4.6 million kilometres. Fortunately, it does not pose any danger to the Earth (level 2).
