“High risk” means, among other things, extended MNS protection and curfew at 0.00 hours

The newly installed Corona traffic light showed yellow for four regions in its first week. The traffic light, which is updated at least every Friday, has four colors: green, yellow, orange and red. Orange is equivalent to “high risk”, according to the Ministry of Health.

Which criteria are decisive for orange?

In the traffic light color orange, the epidemiological situation can be described as follows: high cumulative seven-day incidence relative to the population size of the region under consideration; low proportion of cases with a clarified source; increased incidence of cases with an unclarified source; more frequent occurrence of clusters; proportion of local clusters outweighs the proportion of clusters with a travel context; high utilization of intensive care beds; low test activity; increased number of positive tests.

What measures are planned at Orange?

If the traffic light shows orange, the curfew is brought forward to 0.00 hours. A minimum distance of one meter must be maintained to persons from outside the household. Mouth and nose protection (MNS) is required on public transport, as well as when entering grocery stores, petrol stations, banks, post offices, pharmacies, nursing homes, hospitals and spas, doctors’ surgeries, doctors’ offices and other health and social care facilities.

At Orange, MNS obligation also applies to persons in customer contact if the minimum distance cannot be maintained and no other suitable protective device is available and direct, immediate, long-term contact exists (e.g. hairdressing salon, massage and nail studio).

Mouth and nose protection is also provided at Orange in case of contact with risk groups and for catering staff in service, as well as in all public areas in closed rooms (including catering for guests except at the dining area). Outdoors, masks must be worn in the Orange case if the distance cannot be maintained.

What are the exceptions to the MNS obligation?

Children under six years of age and persons who cannot wear a mouth and nose protector for health reasons are also “exempt” from the MNS obligation in the Orange case.

What does Orange mean for events, meetings and trade fairs?

The regulations for this area are expected to apply from 1 October. At events with assigned seating indoors, Orange allows a maximum of 250 people (500 outdoors), without assigned seating 25 (50). Visitors must wear MNS – also at fixed locations and at open airs – as well as staff with guest contact. Orange also means no catering at events. Contact data collection is recommended. A prevention concept is mandatory for 200 or more visitors.

Is it allowed to practice sports at Orange?

Yes, but the minimum distance applies and physical contact is not allowed.
