The steady rise in Covid positives is causing the government to react now.
Vienna. “Let us all become more cautious and take the situation seriously again. Our clear goal is to prevent a second lockdown. But we will only succeed if everyone makes a contribution and the measures are adhered to,” appealed Chancellor Sebastian Kurz yesterday.
On Friday there were initially 580 new coronavirus cases by 11 a.m. compared to Thursday, when there were almost 700. In the evening a big shock for the government: by 8 p.m. there were already 855 new cases. Therefore the government is now again tightening the measures. In addition to making masks mandatory for closed rooms, which has long been the case in the EU area minus Scandinavia, the number of spectators at events is also being reduced again.
