“China meets Mozart, Mozart meets China” Concert at Mozarthaus Vienna

Vienna, 25 February 2025—The Konfuzius-Institut an der Universität Wien hosted an exceptional evening of music at the historic Mozarthaus Vienna. The concert “China meets Mozart, Mozart meets China” brought together the elegance of Austrian and Chinese musical traditions.

The event featured outstanding performances by pianists LIAO Shiqin, ZHANG Chenrui, and LIU Hanmei, pipa virtuoso HUANG Yanan, baritone LI Yaxi, and violinist XU Fang Fei, who captivated the audience with a diverse and inspiring repertoire. The program included:

In his inspiring message, Dr. Padraig Lysaght, Austrian Director of the Konfuzius-Institut at the University of Vienna, emphasized the importance of cultural collaboration and mutual appreciation. He recognized the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) as a key partner, highlighting their role in fostering international cultural exchange. As a symbol of this partnership, the UNWG was honored with the privilege of presenting Certificates of Appreciation to the talented performers in recognition of their outstanding artistry and contributions to the evening.

Dr. Padraig Lysaght assumed this leadership role in early 2025, coinciding with the Year of the Snake, marking the institute’s renewal period. In addition to his directorial duties, Dr. Lysaght has contributed to discussions on Chinese culture through media appearances, including insightful segments on Radio Wien.
