A new construction site has been set up on the Vienna Südosttangente (A 23), which will obstruct traffic until the end of 2022. One of the lanes of the beltway in the direction of Stadlau has been closed during the renewal of the St. Marx elevated road.
If you drive north from the Gürtel onto the “Tangente”, you have two options so far: The inner ramp leads you directly onto the tracks towards Kagran, the other one towards the eastern highway. The inner lane is now closed because it has to be completely renewed. The outer lane remains, and you can then change lanes on the tangent, so to speak.
Renewal of the elevated road St.Marx
The whole thing is part of the renewal of the elevated road St. Marx, which is getting on in years. Construction will continue until the end of 2022: From the supporting structures and columns to the drainage, lighting and of course the road surface, everything will be given a general overhaul. In addition, there will be a noise barrier for the neighboring residents, which will be much higher than before. The legendary “blocked exit Simmering” will also be redesigned. In the future, it will only be used by the freeway maintenance department and the emergency services.
