In Italy, the number of coronavirus deaths in 24 hours rose sharply on Tuesday. 731 deaths were reported, compared to 503 the day before, the highest level since April 3, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday. Thus, the number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Italy is 46,464.
The Italian President Sergio Mattarella called on his country on Tuesday to make further sacrifices. “Nobody should think ‘it won’t happen to me’. Anyone can get infected. We must not forget this out of respect for the many Italians who mourn for relatives of all ages,” Mattarella said during a speech in Rome.
