The USA has recorded more than 165,000 new corona infections within one day. On Monday, authorities reported 166,045 new cases, according to data released by the University of Johns Hopkins (JHU) in Baltimore on Tuesday morning (CET). The highest figure to date was recorded on Friday, when more than 177,000 cases were reported. The number of deaths within 24 hours was 995.
In total, more than 11.2 million people have become infected with the coronavirus in the USA with its approximately 330 million inhabitants. Around 247,000 people have died so far – more than in any other country in the world. In terms of population, the USA is in 13th place in the world with a good 75 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants according to the JHU.
